Despite recent buzz online, Jimmy Jacobs is not back with AEW, according to a new report from Fightful Select. Speculation arose after Jacobs promoted an episode of AEW Dynamite on Instagram, but sources confirm he has not rejoined the company.
Jacobs, a respected figure in both the ring and creative roles, boasts a diverse wrestling resume. He gained fame in Ring of Honor, where he was a five-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, before transitioning to backstage work in WWE.
Jacobs joined WWE’s creative team in 2015 and contributed to several notable storylines, including the widely praised “List of KO” angle with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. However, he was released from WWE in 2017 after posting a controversial photo with Bullet Club members during their mock “invasion” of Raw.
Following his WWE exit, Jacobs worked for TNA/Impact Wrestling, where he played both backstage and on-screen roles. He left Impact in 2018, citing burnout and the need for new creative perspectives.
Jacobs signed with AEW in June 2023 as a producer and creative team member. His role was largely administrative—organizing creative information for Tony Khan—rather than writing weekly TV. He exited AEW in October 2024, once again citing burnout and a desire to step away from wrestling.
As of now, Jacobs is not under contract with AEW, and there are no current plans for a return. Stay tuned to PWMania.com for any further updates.
