Former WWE star Shotzi recently spoke with Denise Salcedo in her first in-depth interview since leaving the company, and she reflected on the emotional toll of her exit while also sharing deep appreciation for her WWE relationships โ especially her bond with Charlotte Flair.
According to Shotzi, Charlotte was the very first person to reach out when the news broke about her departure.
โShe was honestly the first person that called me. Like when that news hit, she was the first person to call me. She was like, โWhat do you need me to do? What connections can I pull? What do you want? I will help you.โโ
Shotzi described Charlotte as a “rock” during the challenging period, noting that the two had grown particularly close while rehabbing ACL injuries at the same time.
โShe has just been such a rock for me. I hope I was for her as wellโฆ Sheโs someone Iโve cried to during that whole process. Sheโs just been so great. Thatโs what Iโm saying when I talk about how the relationships I made at WWE are the most important thing to me.โ
Shotzi also spoke highly of her in-ring experiences with Flair, revealing that their friendship blossomed from the moment they had their first match together on the main roster.
โThat first match I had on the main roster when I turned heel โ thatโs when we really started connecting. I loved working with her and I honestly learned so much from her, even just from live events. That girl goes hard. Even for a house show, she takes the craziest bumps and kills it every time.โ
The former NXT standout noted that their chemistry in the ring transitioned into a real bond outside of it, especially when they were paired as tag partners.
โShe just knows how to take her time in the ring, and I learned a lot from her. We had so many conversations about wrestling. When we started tagging, our relationship really started growing. Iโm just grateful I got to learn from her โ and also be her friend.โ
Shotzi closed by praising Charlotte Flair and Bayley as not just incredible wrestlers but amazing human beings who impacted her both professionally and personally.
