Chelsea Green Believes NXT Is The Hardest Place To Get Injured

WWE star Chelsea Green recently opened up about the emotional toll of getting injured while competing in the WWE NXT system, revealing how difficult it was to stay hopeful during her recovery.

Appearing on the Lightweights Podcast, Green reflected on the pressure-filled environment of NXT and the harsh reality of being sidelined while fighting for a main roster opportunity.

“The hardest place to experience a setback is NXT, because you’re trying so hard to get to the main roster, and you’re so short-sighted of everything,” Green said. “You’re literally scratching and clawing to get to the top… and it’s a really unhealthy relationship with ourselves and with our coworkers and with the industry. And that all goes away once you get to the main roster.”

Green memorably broke her wrist during her very first televised match in NXT, but maintained a forward-focused mentality. Even so, she admitted that being injured during such a critical stage of her career left her feeling forgotten.

“When you have an injury, you feel like, ‘Oh my god, out of sight, out of mind. I’m never getting to the main roster. They’re never going to see what I’m worth,’” she explained. “The world keeps turning… your friends have just continued their life without you.”

Green’s candid insight highlights the mental health challenges many wrestlers face during the high-stakes developmental process — and the resilience it takes to break through.
