WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green appeared on The Nikki & Brie Show, where she discussed various topics, including her decision to mention Michael Hayes during her post-SummerSlam interview and why she dedicated her Women’s Title win to him.
Green said, “Poor Michael Hayes. He’s never going to live this down. Until the end of time. It’s going to be me in the history book with a little picture of him beside it. My number one opp: Michael Hayes. I’m not an emotional person at all. I also don’t hold grudges. In fact, I forget a lot of times; my girlfriends have to remind me, ‘You don’t like that person.’ I was so emotional that entire day. I had seen Michael Hayes and he had given me words of encouragement. On Unreal, I watched it and didn’t think anything of it. When I started getting flooded with texts, I changed my mind. ‘Oh yeah, that was kind of mean and rude.’ They’re putting you in this box when you’ve constantly fought to get out.”
On how the fans needed that dedication and how she wanted to give them what they expected:
“When I went on the post-show, I was like, ‘I have to do this.’ Even though I don’t feel any type of way about it, I have to dedicate this win to him because I’m a petty queen. The fans need to that. That’s what they wanted to hear, whether I cared about it or not. They needed the moment of me saying it. Michael Hayes is such a good sport.”
