Former WWE and AEW star Jake Hager, also known as Jack Swagger, is set to undergo further evaluation following the serious eye injury he suffered while competing for Power Slap.
Hager required emergency surgery after taking a slap from Magna that resulted in blood and fluid leaking from his eye. Power Slap reportedly did not show a replay of the incident due to the severity of the injury.
Dana White previously described Hager’s injury as one of the worst he has witnessed across UFC or Power Slap.
Speaking during a post-fight press conference for his Contender Series, White provided an update on Hager and revealed that he is being sent to a specialist in Miami following the emergency procedure. “Yeah, he went into emergency surgery that night, and then we’re sending him to a specialist down in Miami. There’s lots of unfortunate things that happen in combat sports. What you do is you make sure that you do all the proper medical testing before the fight, you have the right guys there during the fight, and you take care of these kids after the fight. I mean, it’s the biggest priority for me. Other than having great fights, the only thing I really give a sh*t about is that these kids are all safe and healthy.”
No additional details regarding Hager’s diagnosis, recovery timetable or potential return to competition were provided.
