Former WWE Champion and Hollywood star Dave Bautista has added another title to his already impressive résumé — Honorary Deputy Sheriff.
Bautista, known for his dominant run in WWE and blockbuster roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune franchises, took to Instagram to share the news. The ceremony took place in Hillsborough County, Florida, where Bautista was officially recognized for his contributions to the community.
“Honorary Deputy Sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida… I didn’t see that one coming either,” Bautista wrote. “Big love and thanks to my brother @titusoneilwwe and Sheriff @chadchronister for the honor and for everything you do for this community. Appreciate you both.”
“Tampa’s held a special place in my heart ever since I moved here 20 years ago. Always has. Always will. #Tampa #HillsboroughCounty #Grateful #HonoraryDeputy”
The ceremony was reportedly facilitated in part by fellow WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil, who is known for his philanthropic efforts in the Tampa area.
Bautista last appeared in WWE in 2019, where he had his final match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35, officially retiring from in-ring competition afterward. He is also a future WWE Hall of Famer, having been scheduled for induction in 2020, though it was postponed due to the pandemic.
