Former WWE Star Retires From Pro Wrestling

Some wrestlers can have a long and successful career in the wrestling business, while others will never make it to the top promotions.

Gunner, AKA Jaxson Ryker, has had the opportunity to work for some of the world’s biggest promotions, including WWE and TNA Wrestling, over the last 20 years.

Ryker began his career in TNA and had a successful run before joining WWE in 2017. After joining the company, he was sent to NXT and formed The Forgotten Sons with Westin Blake and Steve Maclin before being promoted to the main roster in 2020.

Ryker tweeted in support of Donald Trump during the protests over George Floyd’s death, causing the group to be pulled from television and receiving backstage criticism for his comments about the Black Lives Matter movement. He later clarified his position on the movement. Ryker, along with other WWE stars, was released in October 2021.

Ryker announced earlier this month that his final match would be on August 27th in his home state of North Carolina because he feels it’s time to retire.

Ryker carried out his plans by defeating George South. He left his boots in the ring after the match.
