WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg not far away from what is expected to be his final match—a high-stakes clash against World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event. And if his latest comments are anything to go by, the veteran powerhouse is approaching his swan song with no regrets and zero hesitation.
Speaking candidly on his CarCast podcast, Goldberg made it clear that his mindset heading into the match is “all or nothing,” regardless of physical limitations.
“I don’t give a f*** how I feel walking out of there, I’ll be perfectly honest with you,” Goldberg stated. “This is all or nothing. At 58 and with the injuries that I’ve had, there’s no question that I’ve compromised a little bit, but like I said the other night, I don’t give a flying f*** if I walk in there with a football helmet and two knee braces and my arm in a sling — it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that I’m a little hobbled and I won’t be 100%. I’m bringing it, that’s the only way I know how to go. When the clock ticks and it’s time to get in the ring, it doesn’t matter if I’m ready or not, because I better be ready.”
Goldberg has previously acknowledged that taking this match at this stage of his career is a “huge risk,” but for the former Universal Champion, it appears to be a risk he’s more than willing to take in order to go out on his own terms.
His bout against GUNTHER could serve as the closing chapter in one of the most dominant—and polarizing—careers in modern wrestling history. Whether he leaves with gold or not, Goldberg clearly intends to go out fighting.
