WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has confirmed that he sustained a broken hand during his retirement match against GUNTHER, which took place on July 12 at WWE Saturday Nightโs Main Event special in Atlanta, Georgia.
Speaking on a recent episode of his CarCast podcast, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion gave fans a candid update on how heโs feeling post-matchโrevealing that, despite dodging aggravation to old injuries, he didnโt walk away entirely unscathed.
“I broke my hand at some point in that match…”
โYou canโt really tell, but my handโI broke my hand at some point in that match,โ Goldberg said. โTodayโs the first day I can see veins back in my hand. Itโs not nearly as swollen as it was. That andโฆ shoulder didnโt hurt, neck didnโt hurt. My knee isnโt worse.โ
A Physical Farewell
The match was billed as Goldbergโs final in-ring performance, closing the chapter on one of the most dominant careers in pro wrestling history. While Goldberg has previously voiced some frustration with how his retirement was presented, he has repeatedly praised GUNTHER as a worthy opponent for his send-off bout.
The contest itself was a hard-hitting clash, featuring signature power offense from both men and emotional moments fitting for the end of a Hall of Fame career.

As Goldberg steps away to begin the next chapter and recover from the injury, GUNTHER continues to cement his dominance.
