GUNTHER Continues To Make History As WWE Intercontinental Champion

The year 2024 has arrived, and GUNTHER’s dominant reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion, which began in 2023, has not changed.

Since his arrival in WWE, he has enjoyed success in NXT, NXT UK, and the main roster. He held the NXT UK Championship for 871 days after winning it at NXT TakeOver: New York in 2019. He was eventually defeated by Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36 in 2021. In 2022, GUNTHER was promoted to the main roster.

In June 2022, GUNTHER defeated Ricochet to become the Intercontinental Champion. He successfully defended the title against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39. He has since defended it against Xavier Woods, Mustafa Ali, Bronson Reed, Tommaso Ciampa, Chad Gable, and The Miz, among others.

He has already broken the Honky Tonk Man’s record of 454 days as the longest-reigning champion in history.

Now, GUNTHER joins Pedro Morales, Ultimate Warrior, Razor Ramon, and Jeff Hardy in beginning and ending the year as the IC Champion.
