During a recent episode of the Something To Wrestle With podcast, WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL) was posed a compelling hypothetical: if he couldn’t work under Vince McMahon, which non-McMahon promoter would he choose — Tony Khan, Dixie Carter, or Eric Bischoff?

Without hesitation, JBL named Bischoff as his top pick.

“Oh man, I’m going with Eric. And there’s not a doubt, not a doubt in my mind,” JBL said confidently.

JBL cited Bischoff’s well-documented success during the Monday Night Wars as the key reason behind his choice. Bischoff famously took WCW from a financially struggling promotion to a dominant force in the industry.

“Eric turned the company around that people thought could not be turned around, and he did a great job with it,” JBL continued. “That has taken [a] company losing a ton of money to making about $40 million a year, one of the biggest corporate turnarounds in history.”

Although he acknowledged not knowing Tony Khan or Dixie Carter on a business level as well as Bischoff, JBL stood firm in his decision.

“I say that not knowing very much about Tony Khan or Dixie Carter as far as their business acumen, because I have not discussed business with them in that way that I have with Eric,” he noted. “I’ve had lunch with Dixie, but we didn’t talk business. I’ve only met Tony once, and that was before AEW launched.”

In related news, Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan have teased a major announcement regarding a new project, with sources indicating that the reveal could come as early as Thursday. Stay tuned for details.
