Jey Uso Says MITB 2023 Match With Family Was His Favorite Ever

Appearing on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, “Main Event” Jey Uso reflected on key milestones in his career, the unique experience of working with family, and the evolution of his current main event run in WWE.

Jey cited his first televised match against Mark Henry on WWE Superstars as an eye-opening experience. “I saw a different man… I was a little bit shook,” he admitted, recalling how Henry’s presence made him realize the intensity needed to succeed. “That’s a light bulb that… kind of went off. I’m like, Okay, this at this level.”

A pivotal moment came at Money in the Bank in Philadelphia during a pre-show tag match against The Shield. “The Shield was the hottest thing at that moment… Place, damn, erupted,” Jey said. Despite initial support for Rollins and Reigns, the crowd turned by the end. “There was chant ‘Usos,’ too… I kind of felt like, Oh, this is what it’s supposed to be like.”

When asked about his favorite matches, Jey named The Usos vs. The Wyatt Family (2-out-of-3 Falls) and The Usos vs. The New Day (Hell in a Cell), but placed his Money in the Bank 2023 match with Solo Sikoa vs. Roman Reigns as number one. “That was our first one together… I’m looking, it’s my family in here, and that’s a fun thing.”

Jey spoke warmly about wrestling with his twin brother Jimmy Uso—even when they’re on opposite sides. Recalling their Royal Rumble 2024 start, he shared, “Man, we stand in the middle of the ring. He trying to make me laugh again… I’m so calm with him in there… It doesn’t feel like work… It’s easy.” He added, “I want to do more with my brother… Big Jim is him.”

On the pressure of solo stardom, Jey reflected on his emotional face-off with GUNTHER: “It was easy for me to be real, because I did talk about my mom… It’s hard to command silence… but by the end of the promo, I had them in the palm of my hand.”

Looking at his current momentum—including gracing the cover of WWE 2K25—Jey embraces a long-term mindset inspired by Nipsey Hussle. “Never thought I’d be here… I just knew I had to bust my ass. And then… the other doors open up,” he said. “Stay consistent to this business… I just try to stay humble with it and embrace it.”
