Good news on the Jim Ross front — the legendary announcer has successfully undergone brain surgery.
Ross underwent a shunt procedure on August 12 in Norman, Oklahoma. His “Grilling JR” podcast co-host Conrad Thompson provided a positive update following the operation.
“Happy to report that our pal Jim Ross had a successful procedure this morning,” Thompson wrote. “I heard from his lovely daughter this morning that everything went well and good ole JR is expected to be back home by Friday!”
Thompson asked fans to keep Ross in their thoughts as he begins the recovery process.
“Please keep JR in your prayers as we hope for a speedy recovery,” he added.
Ahead of the procedure, Ross thanked fans for the outpouring of support. The 74-year-old explained the surgery involved drilling a hole in his skull and inserting a small tube to help drain excess fluid from his brain — a procedure aimed at addressing the memory and balance issues he’s been dealing with.
Despite going under the knife less than three weeks out from AEW All In: London, Ross has expressed hope that he’ll still be able to make the trip overseas for the August 30 pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium.
