Former WWE star Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, has reflected on his eight years serving as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, as he prepares to leave office due to term limits.
Jacobs addressed his time in office in an official video, looking back on his tenure and whether he believes Knox County is in a stronger position than when he became mayor.
“Ultimately the measure of the mayor is, did you leave your community in a better place than when you started? Overall, I feel that is what has happened here. Knox County was already the best place to live, work and raise a family. I hope working together, we’ve made it even better than it was eight years ago. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to be a small part of that.”
According to WATE, Jacobs highlighted several accomplishments from his eight years in office, including not raising taxes, Operation Heroes, the START Center, school-related initiatives and downtown development projects.
As for whether his political career could continue beyond his time as Knox County mayor, Jacobs has not ruled out potentially seeking another office in the future.
However, he indicated that any decision would need to take his family into consideration, noting the significant commitment required to serve as Knox County mayor.
Jacobs was first elected mayor of Knox County in 2018 and subsequently won reelection. His departure will bring an eight-year run in office to a close as term limits prevent him from seeking another consecutive term as mayor.
