WWE star Liv Morgan lost the Women’s World Title to Stephanie Vaquer at the company’s live event on September 12th at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. The match featured Becky Lynch, known as “The Man,” serving as the special guest referee.
During the match, Morgan appeared to have defeated Vaquer after hitting her finisher, Oblivion, and covering her for the pin. However, Lynch interrupted the count at two, refusing to complete it. She then gestured disrespectfully toward Morgan before the match resumed.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Vaquer countered and hit Morgan with the SVB, then followed up with the Vaquer Inferno as Lynch counted the pinfall. This victory marked Vaquer’s return as a two-time Women’s World Champion; she had previously held the title before losing it to Morgan at WrestleMania 42.
After her defeat, Morgan expressed her frustration on Twitter (X), writing, “The greatest tragedy in the history of wrestling .. The Santiago screwjob 🖕”
Morgan’s loss ended her second reign as the Women’s World Champion after 147 days. During this reign, she successfully defended the title twice, including a defense against Vaquer on the September 7 episode of RAW.
