Matt Hardy wanted to do his Broken Matt Hardy character in WWE.
During a recent episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” the pro wrestling legend and AEW star reflected on talking with Triple H about doing the persona in WWE, but Vince McMahon ultimately deciding against it.
“I remember talking to Triple H and he said โMaybe we could do a good Hardy Boyz run, kind of a throwback to the original WWE Hardy Boyz and then maybe we get into the Broken Matt Hardy in a little bit,'” Hardy recalled. “And then Vince [McMahon] is like โTheyโre back in WWE, theyโre the Hardy Boyz.โ”
Hardy continued, “And then later on, whenever I did do Woken Matt Hardy, the WWE version. Itโs so funny because we sat down, we talked for 30 minutes about what the character was or whatever. He says, โWell they keep doing, delete, delete, delete, delete, they wonโt stop that sh*t. I guess we have to give it to them.โ So that became just part of who I am now.”
