Steve Austin Reportedly Considering One Final WWE Match

Could the “Texas Rattlesnake” ride again?

According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has expressed to multiple people that he “might have one more in him,” signaling he’s open to returning to the ring under the right circumstances.

The report notes that more than one source around WrestleMania 41 weekend claimed Austin was at least entertaining the idea of another in-ring performance. This follows his unforgettable return to action at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, where he defeated Kevin Owens in his first match since his retirement in 2003.

While Austin was reportedly approached about a dream match with Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 39, the bout ultimately never materialized. Additionally, while Austin has previously stated that TKO Group Holdings had not reached out to him since their WWE merger, he did make several appearances during WrestleMania 41 week in various capacities.

Interestingly, the internal buzz hasn’t died down. According to Fightful, a number of current WWE Superstars have made it known they’d love the chance to face Austin if he does come back. One name that’s reportedly been “tossed around internally quite a bit” is none other than CM Punk, who himself returned to WWE late last year and is currently embroiled in a high-profile feud with John Cena.

There are currently no formal plans for Austin’s next match, and sources indicate the legend has not been aggressively pursuing a return. However, the door remains wide open for what could be one of the biggest dream matches in WWE history, should the stars align.
