WWE Hall of Famer โThe Million Dollar Manโ Ted DiBiase recently took to an episode of his โEverybodyโs Got a Podโ podcast, where he talked about a number of topics including how he comes up with promos.
DiBiase said, โI knew what the program was, and I would have an idea, but I never thought it wasnโt until much later when the WWE became the WWE, and they would give you scripted stuff. And I told them even then I said, โYou can give me this, but Iโm not going to say whatโs on this thing word for word. Iโm going to take the idea that I see as being expressed here, and Iโm going to do it my way. Because if it doesnโt, if I donโt do it my way, then itโs not going to sound like me.โ And thatโs what I did. Then they let me do it because they knew I could.โ
DiBiase also talked about wrestlers following the script word for word and how he was brought up in an old school type of environment not to do that.
โIโm not going to knock it. Thatโs the other thing I donโt. Iโm old school because I was raised in an old school, and thatโs how it worked for me. Iโm not Vince McMahon, and I donโt know all that Vince McMahon knows. Maybe thereโs a reason now for them to follow a script. I just never had to.โ
