AAA standout Mr. Iguana has become a fast-rising favorite among WWE fans following his appearance at the 2025 Worlds Collide premium live event. With strong crowd reactions and buzz around his performance, WWE is reportedly looking to capitalize on his popularity — including potential merchandising plans already in the works.
According to Fightful Select, WWE and Mr. Iguana are “finalizing” a deal that would see him make additional appearances for the company. However, there has been some backstage controversy stemming from a recent interview the luchador gave regarding his WWE future.
In the interview, Mr. Iguana claimed he would be heading directly to the WWE main roster — a statement that quickly sparked confusion and internal reaction. Fightful noted:
“There was some confusion as to Iguana’s immediate status as he did an interview claiming he was going to the main roster. The interview was later edited and there were claims he didn’t say it, but he did. We’ve not heard anything on whether or not he had heat in the company for the comments.”
However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter offered further insight, stating that Iguana “got heat for that immediately.”
Despite the backstage reaction, fans have continued to embrace Iguana’s unique charisma and style. His growing popularity could see WWE move quickly to secure and feature him more prominently, though it remains to be seen whether he will start on the main roster or in NXT.
