The WWE NXT North American Title, like the Intercontinental and United States Championships on the main roster, is the secondary championship for the men in the developmental brand.

The title debuted a few years ago, with Wes Lee being champion heading into Tuesday’s episode of NXT before losing it to Dominik Mysterio in the main event due to Judgment Day’s outside interference as Rhea Ripley hit Lee with her Women’s Title, allowing Mysterio to win. Complete NXT results can be found by clicking here.

Wrestling Stats & Info pointed out on Twitter that if Lee had held the title for another week, he would have held it for more combined days than anyone else. The current record holder is Carmelo Hayes. At 269 days, Lee has the longest reign in the title’s history.

“Former #WWENXT North American Champion @WesLee_WWE was less than a week away from holding the title for more combined days than any other Superstar. He’ll have to hope for a second reign if he wants to break that record. For now, the record is still held by @Carmelo_WWE. The good news is that @WesLee_WWE’s run of 269 straight days is the longest single reign with the @WWENXT North American title, so while he didn’t break the cumulative record, he did set the high mark for longest continuous time holding the championship.”

Mysterio will defend his title for the first time against Mustafa Ali at the NXT Great American Bash event on July 30, 2023, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Austin.
