Wrestling Veteran Says Carlito Outperformed Expectations In Recent WWE Run

Veteran wrestling personality Jim Cornette has weighed in on Carlitoโ€™s recent WWE departure, offering strong praise for the former United States and Intercontinental Championโ€™s performance during his second stint with the company.

On the latest episode of Jim Cornetteโ€™s Drive-Thru, Cornette reflected on Carlitoโ€™s two-year run, which began with his surprise return at WWE Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico. The appearance led to Carlito re-signing with WWE and becoming a key part of the Latino World Order (LWO) storyline on SmackDown.

โ€œHeโ€™s had a nice, what, two-year run since he came back on that Puerto Rico pay-per-view,โ€ Cornette said. โ€œAnd he looked in better shape than half the guys on the roster.โ€

Cornette also praised Carlitoโ€™s in-ring work, noting that he consistently performed at a high level, often outshining younger talent.

โ€œHeโ€™s looked good, and when heโ€™s had to work, heโ€™s, as weโ€™ve mentioned a couple times, done better than most of the f**king guys that have been on the roster for a while, but are much younger,โ€ Cornette added.

Carlitoโ€™s most recent WWE run saw him join The Judgment Day faction on Raw after turning on the LWO. While he didnโ€™t wrestle regularly, Carlito was featured in several key backstage segments and special matches.

Despite WWE choosing not to renew his contract, Cornette believes Carlito made a valuable impact during his run.

โ€œHe was a valuable member of the cog in the wheel of the group,โ€ Cornette stated, referencing his Judgment Day role.

Carlito recently confirmed his free agent status on Instagram, posting: โ€œBack in business!! #fullyavailable #nocontract #libre #ready #noworries.โ€
