5 of the Best Wrestling Games

Perhaps it has something to do with the ceaseless videos of Vince McMahon crying that have been polluting our TikTok FYP, but recently we have really gotten back into wrestling games.

Not just in a passing way but in a serious, staying up to 3am in the morning can’t stop playing type of way.

Which is why we’ve decided to put together this list of the 5 wrestling games that we just can’t get enough of at the moment, read on to find out what they are.

  1. Lucha Legends

It started out slowly and grew from there, but the first wrestling game that we fell back in love with was Lucha Legends. We found it nestling amongst the latest slot titles on our favourite bingo slots app but it’s a game that’s readily available at most providers.

Regardless of where you find it, the main thing is that you actually play it because it’s a great bit of Mexican style wrestling fun that will help you pass the time and could also boost your bank balance along the way.

  1. RetroMania Wrestling

Now we move on to the meaty stuff, the games that have been doing more than helping us pass the time. The first is RetroMania which, with all the nostalgic Vince McMahon memes seems more than apt to play.

Simple pick up and play controls make it a great game to get going with straight away and characters like Tommy Dreamer, Jeff Cobb and Nick Aldis are likely to get the nostalgia juices flowing.

It also has a real arcade vibe which makes it super fun and engaging to play.

  1. Circle of Sumo

When it comes to wrestling there is certainly a world beyond WWE and a world beyond the United States. The ancient Japanese sport of sumo wrestling is fascinating and exciting at the same time and, if you ever get the chance, be sure to head down to watch some live sumo action as it is a truly unforgettable experience.

If you can’t get down to see some live action the next best thing is picking up Circle of Sumo, a free to play game that is based on physics. As a result of this the game is full of whacky and fun moments that will keep you gripped to the action.

All in all this is the game that we’ve found the hardest to put down this last month so if you’ve got any upcoming work deadlines, maybe be careful about downloading this one…

  1. WWE 2K Battlegrounds

When we saw this game we’ll be honest, we didn’t really want to play it. It just had all the hallmarks of a cheaply made, easy to forget game. In the name of research though we dusted off our Switch and gave this game a go and you know what? We were very pleasantly surprised.

It’s not up to the same standard as the WWE 2K series, but pound for pound it is perhaps a better and more fun to play game. Especially considering just how bad WWE 2K20 was, the less said about that particular title the better…

If you’re looking for a fun arcade style game to play which is full of your favourite wrestlers then look no further than WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

  • 80s Mania Wrestling Returns

What is it about the 1980s that is just so tantalising? We weren’t even born in the 80s and still we feel as though the decade is constantly pulling at us, tempting us in with pop synthetic music, crazily exaggerated outfits and trashy drama clichés.

Much of which you will get when you download 80s Mania Wrestling Returns onto your mobile phone. Ostensibly this is a business simulator but those two words don’t really do justice to just how engaging this game is.

Your task when you download this game is to earn game cash by putting on the best and most exciting wrestling events you can muster. In doing so you’re guaranteed to have an absolute blast too, although one tip from us – don’t play this game before bed if you have to get up early the next morning because you’ll still be playing it by the time your alarm goes off!
