Kevin Kelly Says AEW Fired Him Following Mental Breakdown

In the summer of 2024, it was revealed that announcer Kevin Kelly, along with wrestlers Brandon and Brendan Tate, had filed a lawsuit against AEW. This week, Kelly shared his thoughts on a potential new commentary pairing and reflected on his time with AEW.

On Twitter, Kelly suggested an ideal commentary duo:

“Put me and Corey Graves together at the desk. Corey would become the biggest commentary star in wrestling because I would actively try to get him over. Let his star shine.”

When a fan claimed Kelly had been “screwed over” by AEW, he responded candidly:

“All I wanted to do was call wrestling. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d have to listen to a stuttering son of a billionaire feeding me lines and then correcting himself and telling me I was doing great. They waited until I had a mental breakdown to fire me.”

Kelly’s remarks shed light on his frustrations with AEW management and provide a glimpse into the challenges he faced during his tenure with the promotion. His candid responses have sparked conversations about backstage dynamics within AEW.
