Former WWE Womenโs and Divas Champion Michelle McCool recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where she discussed a variety of topicsโincluding the possibility of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
McCool was one-half of LayCool, a dominant womenโs tag team alongside Layla during the late 2000s and early 2010s. The duo quickly became one of WWEโs most successful womenโs acts, helping redefine the division. In May 2010, McCool became WWE Womenโs Champion, and two years later, Layla won the Divas Championship before retiring in 2015. McCool stepped away from full-time competition in 2011 following a Loser Leaves WWE match against Layla at Extreme Rules.
When asked about a potential Hall of Fame induction, McCool admitted she doesnโt know if or when the call will come, but she would be honored.
“I donโt know [about getting the WWE Hall of Fame call]. I get that question all the time. I mean, it would be an honor. I donโt know. Not my call. Donโt even know whose call it is. I have no ideaโฆ”
On whether Layla would induct her, McCool expressed hope that LayCool would go in together:
“Oh, [Layla] inducts [me]? Well, I would hope LayCool would go in, and you know, everybody always asksโI mean, that would be an honor to go in as Michelle McCool, obviouslyโฆ. LayCool is what put Michelle McCool really on the map, and Iโll never take that for granted. But she just disassociated from wrestling for quite some time and I respected that.”
She also reflected on the possibility of a LayCool reunion:
“Would I give anything to have a LayCool reunion at a Rumble? Yeahโฆevery once in a while [we talk]. Itโs one of those deals. We donโt have to talk every day. Not even every month, but nothing changes.”
McCool noted that her daughter frequently asks her about a Hall of Fame induction, adding with a laugh:
“Well, I appreciate it [fans calling for her to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame]. I do. My daughter asks me all the time. Iโm like, โWould you hush? I donโt know. I donโt know. Donโt rub it in. I donโt know.โ”
With WWE continuing to honor womenโs wrestling pioneers, fans remain hopeful that McCoolโand possibly LayCoolโwill receive their well-deserved induction into the Hall of Fame in the near future.
