WWEโs upcoming Netflix docuseries WWE Unreal has already sparked major debate ahead of its July premiereโand now Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross has shared his perspective on the controversial behind-the-scenes project.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross addressed the growing divide in the wrestling community. His co-host Conrad Thompson pointed out the clash between two outspoken names: Jake โThe Snakeโ Roberts, who called the show โfoolish,โ and Ryback, who praised it as โone of the best things for wrestling and wrestlers.โ
Ross surprisingly aligned with Rybackโs take, stating:
โWell, Iโm happy and surprised that Ryback has been so objective. I think heโs right in a lot of his points.โ
Despite backing some of Rybackโs views, Ross maintained a cautious stance overall, emphasizing that judgment should be reserved until after the show debuts.
โItโs hard to say whatโs going toโฆ how itโs going to be until you see it,โ Ross said. โBut itโs got a lot of ways to go, so hopefully itโll be successful for them.โ
WWE Unreal is a multi-part Netflix docuseries that will take fans deep inside WWEโs creative process, revealing what really happens behind the curtainโfrom storyline pitches to backstage dynamics. The series is scheduled to premiere at the end of July.
