WWE Personality Slams Goldberg Over Retirement Complaints

Peter Rosenberg is the latest voice to speak out against Bill Goldbergโ€™s public dissatisfaction with his WWE sendoffโ€”and the longtime Kickoff Show host isnโ€™t holding back.

In a video posted to social media, the popular WWE on-air personality and media host blasted Goldberg for his comments made on The Ariel Helwani Show, where the WWE Hall of Famer expressed frustration that his post-match retirement speech was cut off during NBCโ€™s broadcast of Saturday Nightโ€™s Main Event.

โ€œI cannot believe the complaints about his send off,โ€ Rosenberg said bluntly. โ€œHave you guys ever noticed that the people who are the most overbooked, the most over-celebrated, are always the ones who complain?โ€

โ€œThat Match Shouldโ€™ve Been a Squashโ€
Rosenberg took aim at Goldbergโ€™s match itself, questioning whether the former Universal Champion even deserved the 15-minute main event slot against reigning World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.

โ€œThe man got a 15-minute match. Letโ€™s be honestโ€”it shouldโ€™ve been a squash. He shouldโ€™ve been Goldbergโ€™ed. Speared and done,โ€ Rosenberg said. โ€œThe guyโ€™s pushing 60. Hasnโ€™t looked good in the ringโ€”some would say, everโ€”but certainly not in recent years.โ€

Responding to Goldbergโ€™s specific complaint about his farewell speech being cut off mid-broadcast, Rosenberg pointed to the realities of live network television.

โ€œHe still got in a nice little moment and got to be celebrated,โ€ Rosenberg explained. โ€œBut listenโ€”NBC is not going to wait. This isnโ€™t USA Network, itโ€™s not Netflix. Itโ€™s network TV. When the time slot ends, theyโ€™re done. They go when they go. Thatโ€™s how it works.โ€

WWE later released the full, uninterrupted version of Goldbergโ€™s speech on its social media platforms, allowing fans to view the complete segment online.

Rosenberg also put Goldbergโ€™s farewell into perspective, comparing it to how other, arguably more respected wrestlers have exited the company.

โ€œDo you know how many people better than Goldberg got released with just a โ€˜we wish them the best in their future endeavorsโ€™ statement?โ€ he asked. โ€œThis guy got to stand in the ring, on network television, and be celebrated. You should be thanking your lucky stars for the career youโ€™ve had, the money youโ€™ve made, and the appreciation youโ€™ve gottenโ€”which, frankly, a lot of people feel wasnโ€™t fully earned.โ€

โ€œTo complain like this? Iโ€™m so disappointed.โ€

The backlash stems from Goldbergโ€™s loss to GUNTHER in the Saturday Nightโ€™s Main Event headliner on July 12, which had been billed as Goldbergโ€™s retirement match. While WWE presented it as a respectful farewell, Goldbergโ€™s critical remarks have drawn strong reactions from fans and personalities alikeโ€”including Busted Open Radio host Dave LaGreca, who also blasted the WWE Hall of Famer earlier this week.

Whether Goldberg truly closes the door on his career remains unclearโ€”but for Rosenberg, one thing is certain: heโ€™s had enough of the complaints.
