Buff Bagwell Has Leg Amputated

Former WCW star Buff Bagwell has undergone a life-altering surgery, as confirmed Friday morning by Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers. Bagwell had an above-the-knee leg amputation on Thursday, following five years of complications stemming from a devastating 2020 car accident.

In an official statement, Stasiak revealed the severity of Bagwellโ€™s condition and the difficult decision that had to be made.

โ€œYesterday morning, Marcus โ€˜Buffโ€™ Bagwell underwent an above-the-knee amputation following years of painful complications from a 2020 car accident. After doing everything he could to avoid this outcomeโ€”through surgeries, infections, and a long, exhausting recoveryโ€”his fight has now taken a deeply challenging turn.โ€

Bagwell had endured over 30 operations in an attempt to save the leg. The long-term health struggles led to physical and emotional pain, including battles with addiction and depression, which Bagwell has been open about in recent years.

In 2022, Bagwell turned his life around and achieved sobriety, a journey he continues to share with fans through his YouTube channel. Ahead of the amputation, Bagwell spoke with courage and honesty, framing the surgery as a turning point in reclaiming his quality of life.

Known for his flashy persona and impressive physique, Bagwell was a staple of WCW in the 1990s, capturing multiple World Tag Team Championships and becoming a key member of the nWo (New World Order) during the companyโ€™s hottest years.

Former WWE star Maven has released a heartfelt new interview with Buff Bagwell, in which the two discuss the surgery, Bagwellโ€™s recovery journey, and what comes next for the wrestling veteran.
