Backstage Update On Bayley’s WWE Contract Status Amid AEW Speculation

Bayley has reportedly not signed a new WWE contract as speculation continues over whether she could leave the company and potentially join AEW.

Bayley was last seen at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where she lost to Lyra Valkyria. WWE appeared to reinforce the possibility that the match was a write-off when Valkyria referenced the victory during a commercial-break promo on Raw. “I dropped a load of dead weight on Saturday when I ran Bayley out of here.”

The timing has attracted attention because Bayley’s WWE contract is reportedly due to expire in October, with speculation growing in recent weeks about what she might do next.

Bayley herself appears to be having some fun with the discussion. She recently posted a lengthy training montage to Instagram carrying the caption “all or nothing, baby.” The video showed her training at several wrestling schools and working with wrestlers outside WWE, most notably Mercedes Moné. Fans also noticed Bayley used the song “All In” for the montage, sharing its name with AEW’s marquee event at Wembley Stadium in London on August 30.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said the message he has heard regarding Bayley is that her future remains undecided. “The only thing I’ve heard from them when it comes to Bayley is that Bayley has a decision to make. So that’s the story, Bayley has a decision to make. She has not signed a contract.”

Meltzer believes Bayley’s absence from WWE television could now depend on whether she agrees to a new deal. “When she signs a contract, I’m sure she’ll be back on TV.” He compared the situation to occasions in AEW where Tony Khan has kept wrestlers off television while their contractual futures remained uncertain. “If she doesn’t sign – I think they’re doing the same thing that Tony [Khan] does or has done.”

Meltzer also outlined what he believes could happen creatively depending on Bayley’s decision. If she re-signs, he expects WWE could immediately return to her issue with Valkyria. “If she signs a contract, she’ll probably come back and attack Lyra, and that’ll be her storyline.”

If she decides against signing a new contract, Meltzer believes her loss at Madison Square Garden may have already served as her WWE farewell. “If she doesn’t sign, she doesn’t come back and the Madison Square Garden thing was her write-off.”

There is currently no confirmation that Bayley intends to leave WWE or join AEW, and her social media posts could simply be playing into the speculation. For now, according to Meltzer, she remains unsigned to a new WWE deal and has a decision to make about her future.
