Backstage Update On Kazuchika Okada’s Future

AEW appears to be the front-runner to sign Kazuchika Okada as they compete with WWE for the top NJPW star.

Okada is among the first major free agents in the world of pro wrestling in 2024. His deal with NJPW has expired, and he is free to discuss any promotion he wants.

AEW is thought to have made the stronger initial offer. Last week, it was reported that AEW is viewed as a more likely destination for Okada than WWE. It was added that there has been very little, if any, communication between Okada and WWE.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, New Japan sources claim that the two sides have reached an amicable agreement. Regarding WWE, there has been some discussion between the two sides. Okada reached out to members of the roster “to gauge his offers, WWE’s approach, and to help weigh a decision.”

Regarding AEW, they’ve been fairly confident over the last month that they’d land him, to the point where they made tentative plans for his official debut, which occurred a month ago. They were informed that AEW had made what they considered a “substantial offer.”

Okada has contacted Barry Bloom about representing him.

He has not signed a contract with anyone.
