Jim Ross Reacts To WWE Unreal Docuseries Debate

WWE’s upcoming Netflix docuseries WWE Unreal has already sparked major debate ahead of its July premiere—and now Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross has shared his perspective on the controversial behind-the-scenes project.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross addressed the growing divide in the wrestling community. His co-host Conrad Thompson pointed out the clash between two outspoken names: Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who called the show “foolish,” and Ryback, who praised it as “one of the best things for wrestling and wrestlers.”

Ross surprisingly aligned with Ryback’s take, stating:

“Well, I’m happy and surprised that Ryback has been so objective. I think he’s right in a lot of his points.”

Despite backing some of Ryback’s views, Ross maintained a cautious stance overall, emphasizing that judgment should be reserved until after the show debuts.

“It’s hard to say what’s going to… how it’s going to be until you see it,” Ross said. “But it’s got a lot of ways to go, so hopefully it’ll be successful for them.”

WWE Unreal is a multi-part Netflix docuseries that will take fans deep inside WWE’s creative process, revealing what really happens behind the curtain—from storyline pitches to backstage dynamics. The series is scheduled to premiere at the end of July.
