AEW World Champion and one-half of the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions MJF recently spoke with GQ Sports on a number of topics including how fans don’t want to cheer for someone who is “squeaky clean.”

MJF said, โ€œNobody wants to cheer for a dude whoโ€™s squeaky clean. I think thereโ€™s a reason why Superman movies have almost never hit, bro. I love Superman, but Batmanโ€™s where itโ€™s at because Batmanโ€™s more interesting. Thereโ€™s more depth there. The guyโ€™s not perfect, and thatโ€™s something that everyone can relate to.โ€

MJF also talked about the difference between himself and everybody else.

โ€œYou can see that through the screen and Iโ€™m making you have an emotional response. Other guys in our sport, theyโ€™re beating the shit out of each other and hitting moves that look crazy. And if you listen to the crowd, theyโ€™ll come up when the big thing happens. But youโ€™ll also hear the big gaps of silence because theyโ€™re not emotionally invested in the participants. Youโ€™re emotionally invested in MJF, and youโ€™re emotionally invested in anybody I get in the ring with because I give you no choice. Iโ€™m involved, and you care about what Iโ€™m doing because you care about me. Thereโ€™s a level between being able to put your hands up like two kangaroo paws and a crowd literally freaks out and screams at the top of their lungs. Other guys have to do something like a reverse hurricanrana off the top rope to the floor to elicit the same noise level. Thatโ€™s the difference between me and everybody else.โ€
