Both AEW and WWE are in the running to sign a notable free agent as the wrestling industry approaches an exciting period in history, with both AEW and WWE’s media rights deals coming in 2024 with the expectation of a significant increase in money, leading to larger paydays for talent.

As a free agent, now appears to be an excellent time for Nick Aldis to decide on his next move in his wrestling career. He had interest from WWE earlier this year, but the timing was bad because Vince McMahon was looking to close the acquisition of WWE from the Endeavor Group with the intention of merging WWE and the UFC into a new company.

After leaving the NWA, Aldis returned to Impact Wrestling at Rebellion in April, where he was chasing the Impact World Title. He finished Impact Wrestling at Slammiversary.

As PWMania.com previously reported, now that Aldis is free and clear, WWE is showing a lot of interest in him. He could be hired as a producer for a trial period as early as next month.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Aldis is back in talks with WWE, but he’s also interested in joining AEW.

According to Meltzer, “Aldis has no new deal in place and is said to be interested in both AEW and WWE.”

It was added that Aldis “is a free agent right now and had agreed to work here through this week.”
