WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam (RVD) recently appeared on his โ€œ1 Of A Kindโ€ podcast episode. He discussed several topics, including how many times he has bladed in matches.

RVD said, โ€œIn my whole career, you know, how many times I got โ€” letโ€™s call it, requested color? Twice. Every other time was the hardway. I busted myself open so many times, thereโ€™s so many photos of me bloody throughout my career. Thatโ€™s not because before the match I thought, โ€˜You know what be cool? Iโ€™m gonna slice myself open and then make it even better, and thatโ€™ll be cool.โ€™ No, that was hardway s**t. That was me working, busting myself open every time except for two. Both were post-ECW, post-2001 WWE.โ€

On not liking wrestlers bleeding in matches:

โ€œI always hated it when Balls [Mahoney] would come up to me before the match. โ€˜Is it okay with you if I bleed tonight?โ€™ No motherf***er, why do you gotta bleed every f***ing match? I mean, if it happens, it happens. Why do you gotta f***ing โ€” what do you get out of that? It doesnโ€™t make the match better. Iโ€™ve always felt that way, personally. And I know not everyone agrees with my opinion, which is fine, itโ€™s subjective. Some people love that s**t.โ€
