Shelton Benjamin is a good guy.
That’s why he didn’t expose his mother to the pro wrestling business.
The WWE veteran recently appeared as a guest on “INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet” for an in-depth interview, during which he explained why his real mother wasn’t used in the “Mama Benjamin” storyline for his second WWE Intercontinental Championship reign.
“I had a meeting with Vince (McMahon) and I was just like, โOkay, right now Iโm not doing anything. I want to contribute.โ And I had an idea and first โ and I donโt know where he came up with the mama thing,” Benjamin recalled. “So when he first approached me about it, he basically said, โHow would you feel about having your real mama on the road?โ”
Benjamin continued, explaining why he wouldn’t even consider bringing his real mother in for the storyline.
“And I said, โAbsolutely not. Thereโs no way Iโm going to expose my mother to this locker room,โ” Benjamin said. “Because as nice as a guy I am, I love everybody on the roster. But if one person were to say something (I didnโt like) to my real mom, I would have had a really short career.”
