AEW star Shelton Benjamin didn’t hold back on Twitter/X when a fan claimed he lacked charisma and never connected with the audience during his WWE run. The conversation began after the fan suggested Benjamin—alongside Ricochet, Aleister Black, and Andrade—was a talented wrestler who couldn’t get over, which contributed to him never becoming a world champion.
Benjamin clapped back with a sharp response:
“I don’t think you’re old enough to look back far enough so I’ll cut you some slack but Being over with the fans was the one thing I’ve never lacked.”

When the fan followed up by saying, “You was one of my favorite mid card wrestlers growing up I just never seen you as a world champion and that’s okay lol,” Benjamin replied:
“So again, you were a fan, but also according to you I never got over with the Fans, you being among them. Being over & being champ are not synonymous. You not seeing me as champ material I can only respect, so can you answer my question now, we are all still waiting.”

Benjamin’s comments struck a chord with many fans who recall his standout moments in WWE—from jaw-dropping performances in Money in the Bank matches to his classic with Shawn Michaels on Raw. While he was never positioned as a world champion, Benjamin was widely respected for his athleticism, versatility, and consistent crowd support.
Now part of AEW, Benjamin continues to prove why he’s still one of wrestling’s most underrated veterans.
