Shelton Benjamin Shuts Down Criticism Over WWE Career

AEW star Shelton Benjamin didnโ€™t hold back on Twitter/X when a fan claimed he lacked charisma and never connected with the audience during his WWE run. The conversation began after the fan suggested Benjaminโ€”alongside Ricochet, Aleister Black, and Andradeโ€”was a talented wrestler who couldnโ€™t get over, which contributed to him never becoming a world champion.

Benjamin clapped back with a sharp response:

โ€œI donโ€™t think youโ€™re old enough to look back far enough so Iโ€™ll cut you some slack but Being over with the fans was the one thing Iโ€™ve never lacked.โ€

When the fan followed up by saying, โ€œYou was one of my favorite mid card wrestlers growing up I just never seen you as a world champion and thatโ€™s okay lol,โ€ Benjamin replied:

โ€œSo again, you were a fan, but also according to you I never got over with the Fans, you being among them. Being over & being champ are not synonymous. You not seeing me as champ material I can only respect, so can you answer my question now, we are all still waiting.โ€

Benjaminโ€™s comments struck a chord with many fans who recall his standout moments in WWEโ€”from jaw-dropping performances in Money in the Bank matches to his classic with Shawn Michaels on Raw. While he was never positioned as a world champion, Benjamin was widely respected for his athleticism, versatility, and consistent crowd support.

Now part of AEW, Benjamin continues to prove why heโ€™s still one of wrestlingโ€™s most underrated veterans.
