John Cena is once again bridging the worlds of pro wrestling and Hollywood — this time with a surprise appearance in the upcoming Superman film, reprising his role as DC’s “Peacemaker.”

As first reported by PWInsider, Cena makes a brief cameo in the film, which hits theaters worldwide this Friday, July 11. The scene reportedly features Cena’s Peacemaker character appearing as a talking head on a news program, weighing in on a pivotal moment in the movie’s plot involving Superman. While the appearance doesn’t include any action, it plays a crucial role in officially integrating Peacemaker into the new DC Universe being built by DC Studios.

According to insiders, the Superman storyline will directly impact the second season of Cena’s Peacemaker series on HBO Max. The highly anticipated continuation of the hit show is scheduled to premiere this August, and the film’s events will “dovetail” into the new season’s arc.

This marks a key development in DC Studios’ revamped cinematic universe. Alongside Creature Commandos, which is already streaming, Superman serves as a launch point for a fully connected DCU. Notably, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam does not appear in the film, and sources say the character is not expected to be involved in the new DCU going forward.

Cena’s Peacemaker, however, looks to be a central figure moving ahead — both in film and on television.

Despite his growing film schedule, John Cena remains a dominant force in WWE. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is currently scheduled to defend his title against Cody Rhodes, winner of the 2025 King of the Ring, in the main event of SummerSlam.
