According to Comcast’s latest earnings report, the Peacock streaming service, which airs WWE PLEs and the WWE Network library in the United States, experienced a slight decline in subscriptions, dropping from 33.5 million to 33 million in the same quarter of last year. Despite this, Comcast also announced that Peacock’s revenue rose 28% to $1 billion and halved its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) loss from $651 million a year ago to $348 million.
Variety reported on the record viewership for WWE WrestleMania XL, announced by Peacock in April. This quarter marked the best year-over-year improvement for the streaming service since its launch in 2020. The event heavily featured The Rock and saw Cody Rhodes dethrone Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
The news comes as the service raised its prices to $7.99 for Peacock Premium (with ads) and $13.99 for Peacock Premium without most ads. This strategic move has significantly contributed to the service’s revenue growth.
