WWE And AEW Reportedly Interested In Top Prospect Mariah May

WWE and AEW are reportedly interested in up-and-coming UK talent Mariah May.

May, 25, has built a fan base while wrestling for about 4.5 years, and Fightful Select reports that both WWE and AEW are interested in bringing her in.

May worked a WWE UK Performance Center tryout in 2019, as WWE approached her almost immediately after she began her wrestling career. Since then, WWE officials have kept their eyes on May, but word is that AEW is gaining traction as a potential landing spot.

There has been no word on whether May has recently discussed or negotiated a contract with WWE or AEW, but she is currently in Japan, where she has been working a heavy schedule with Stardom. On August 8, during Day 6 of Stardom’s 5-Star Grand Prix, she was defeated by Artist of Stardom Champion & NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia. May and Giulia have worked together and against each other in several multi-woman matches, but the singles match on August 8 was widely regarded as May’s best-ever performance with Stardom out of more than 80 matches she’s worked for the company since January 3.

May may be finishing up in Japan so that she can start working for another company she has signed with, according to recent speculation. To add to the rumors, May closed her Big Cartel store in August and tweeted about some of her matches and moments in Japan. The video in the tweet, which can be seen below, was accompanied by the message, “I will never forget this time of my life. Thankful.”

The day before the goodbye tweet, Stardom held their Osaka Summer Team event, during which May and Mina Shirakawa dropped the Goddesses of Stardom titles to Saori Anou and Natsupoi. May and Shirakawa, also known as Rose Gold, held the titles for 49 days.

There is no confirmation that May has signed with AEW, but according to the report, “there is certainly traction to her going there.”
