WWE Hall of Famer JBL believes fans may not have seen the last of The Undertaker inside the squared circle. During a recent episode of the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL praised the Deadmanโs current physical condition and suggested that a return match โ particularly against a dominant current champion โ could still be on the table.
Though The Undertaker officially retired following his cinematic โBoneyard Matchโ against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, JBL says Takerโs intense training regimen keeps the door open.
โI would think itโd be a possibility. He looks great. I mean, he looks great, and heโs in terrific shape,โ JBL said. โI know the type of training heโs doing โ a lot of functional training. Not just bench presses or squats like we used to do. His bodyโs moving well. I feel like he probably could still move or move as well as heโs done for 20 years.โ
While The Undertaker has stayed active through his acclaimed 1 deadMAN SHOW appearances, JBL thinks stepping back in the ring โ even for one final match โ is far from impossible.
JBL wasted no time naming a dream opponent for the potential return: World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
โIt would be awesomeโฆ Gunther is an easy choice,โ he said. โYou need a big, tough guy that can wrestle, that knows his way around. And you need a guy that can get heat on The Undertaker. Heโs still a really big guy, and you need someone like GUNTHER โ it makes perfect sense.โ
A bout between The Undertaker and GUNTHER would be a generational showdown: the most dominant big man of the modern era versus one of the greatest legends in WWE history. With GUNTHER currently holding the World Heavyweight Championship, the stakes could be enormous โ and worthy of a marquee premium live event.
While WWE has not hinted at any such return, JBLโs comments are sure to ignite speculation among fans eager to see The Phenom walk the aisle one more time.
