WWE Hall of Famer John โBradshawโ Layfield (JBL) shared another hilariously bizarre story during the latest episode of the โSomething To Wrestle Withโ podcast โ and this time it involved a three-foot leprechaun doll, a trash can, and his longtime frenemy, Hornswoggle (real name Dylan Postl).
JBL revealed that ahead of an upcoming trip to Wisconsin, where he plans to reunite with Hornswoggle, he has begun a โtraining campโ to prepareโฆ using a lifelike leprechaun dummy as a target for trash can attacks.
โIโve ordered a trash can, and I got this leprechaun, and Iโm just gonna put it on the yard and just beat the shit out of itโฆ with trash cans,โ JBL declared matter-of-factly.
He explained that the inspiration came from his colorful WWE history with Hornswoggle and a desire to be โreadyโ for their next meeting.
โIโm going up to Wisconsin in a couple weeks to see Hornswoggle, and so I thought I would train in the meantime,โ JBL joked. โI couldnโt find one [a leprechaun doll] on Amazon. I actually had toโฆ order one on Etsy.comโฆ it took me about four weeks to get the freaking leprechaun.โ
JBL said he requested a โfull-sizeโ replica so he could simulate trash-can strikes with full force. The purpose? “Practice legitimately” for inflicting playful punishment on Postl.
โI wanted a good targetโฆ to hit with my trash canโฆ because I want to, when I go up there, I want to hurt him.โ
The story only escalated in absurdity as JBL launched into an impromptu ventriloquist bit, speaking as the doll โ nicknamed โDylanโ by host Conrad Thompson โ who comically begged for mercy.
โWhy do you hit me with a trash can all the time?โ JBL quipped in the voice of the leprechaun doll, mocking Hornswoggleโs frequent beatings during their WWE segments.
This over-the-top โtraining campโ story reflects JBLโs unique sense of humor and his infamous on-screen rivalry with Hornswoggle, a character frequently used in comedic roles during the 2000s era of WWE.
JBLโs mix of nostalgia, mischief, and exaggerated storytelling continues to be a highlight on โSomething To Wrestle With,โ where longtime fans enjoy behind-the-scenes anecdotes โ especially when they involve a leprechaun, a trash can, and a very committed WWE Hall of Famer.
