During the opening segment of Friday’s WWE SmackDown, Matt Cardona entered the ring to defend the honor of his wife, WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, after she was insulted by “The Ring General” GUNTHER. This confrontation ultimately led to a match between the two wrestlers, with GUNTHER emerging victorious.
After the event, Cardona took to Instagram to address GUNTHER, warning him to keep his wife’s name out of his mouth. Cardona wrote, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*****g mouth!”
Additionally, Cardona expressed his thoughts on Twitter (X), revealing that he was not discouraged by his loss to GUNTHER, stating that the defeat only fueled his determination. He said, “I’m seeing stars right now. I don’t know how many god damn power bombs I just took, but GUNTHER, I feel alive. Thank you for waking me up. You’re the career killer, but my career has been killed time and time again. And I always, I always, come back. Tonight was a fight, a fight you didn’t need, but you had to run your mouth. You had to disrespect Chelsea. Me, I needed that. I needed to get my *** kicked by you. I needed to wake up. I’m not here to be another guy. I’m here to be the guy. I’m here to be the WWE Champion. That means I gotta beat guys like you. So whenever you wanna do it again, you know where to find me.”
It remains to be seen whether Cardona can follow through on his warning to GUNTHER.
