As reported by PWMania.com, WWE veteran Rhea Ripley sustained a knee injury during her WWE Women’s Title defense against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy this past May. Since then, Ripley has been absent from WWE television. Last month, she revealed that she suffered a slight tear in her meniscus.
During Ripley’s absence, WWE crowned Chelsea Green as the Interim Women’s Champion at SummerSlam Night Two, with the hope that Ripley would return soon to set up a match for the Undisputed Women’s Championship. However, Ripley announced on Thursday that she has undergone surgery on her injured knee.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE expects Ripley to return in time for the Royal Rumble in 2027.
