Shayna Baszler Potentially Returning To WWE In Producer Role After Release

Just two months after her WWE release, former NXT Womenโ€™s Champion Shayna Baszler may already be back with the company โ€” but this time, behind the scenes.

According to a report from Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, Baszler was internally listed as a producer for the Kelani Jordan vs. Lainey Reid match on the July 8th edition of WWE NXT. She was reportedly paired with veteran agent Oney Lorcan, suggesting the assignment could have been a tryout for a potential full-time backstage role.

This comes as WWE continues to assess talent for backstage positions, often partnering newer prospects with established producers to evaluate their fit in a non-wrestling capacity โ€” a path previously taken by names like Lorcan himself and Jason Jordan.

Baszlerโ€™s behind-the-scenes appearance is especially noteworthy because she is still within her 90-day non-compete clause, stemming from her May 2025 release during a round of roster cuts that also included Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Cora Jade.

While WWE has yet to make any official announcement regarding Baszlerโ€™s status, her return in any form would mark a significant development. A veteran of both NXT and the main roster, Baszler built a strong legacy during her WWE tenure, capturing, 2x NXT Womenโ€™s Championships and 3x WWE Womenโ€™s Tag Team Championships.

If she joins WWEโ€™s growing team of backstage producers, Baszler would be the latest former in-ring competitor to successfully transition into a post-ring career within the company.
