Earlier in the year, Drew McIntyre expressed frustration with WWE because of creative and the fact that his contract is set to expire in 2024. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio) McIntyre & JD McDonagh were defeated in the Men’s WarGames Match on Saturday night by Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton.
McIntyre stormed out of the ring moments before Punk’s music played, holding his eye. To say the least, it got people talking.
Drew McIntyre was said to be upset after leaving the arena immediately following WWE Survivor Series.
McIntyre stormed to the back before slamming the locker room door and exiting the arena, as previously reported. When McIntyre got to the back, he reportedly became so enraged that it became a “loud and obvious situation” that was witnessed by several people.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that while he isn’t sure what McIntyre was upset about, it was a genuine reaction and not related to the storyline.
“Yeah, he was very upset. As the night went on, he was less upset. And as far as the reason he left, I don’t want to give any wrong information. I will say that people in the company who told me thought it had to do with [CM] Punk. I cannot confirm that. Only that’s what people in the company thought. But he was legitimately upset about something, whatever it was, I don’t know.”
Meltzer went on to say that McIntyre would have a great year in 2024 because his contract is up and WWE wants to keep him.
As PWMania.com previously reported, Fightful Select is reporting that the WWE veteran was legitimately upset after the match, but it was apparently due to things broader than just the return of CM Punk.
